When we ask our colleagues whether they would recommend working at ROI Hunter to their friends, the response often is "I love it, but it's not for everyone". And it's true.

It's not always possible to tell who would be a good fit, but here are the traits we look for in newcomers as well as ourselves.

๐Ÿ’ช You want to build a great product

Being a company that builds its own product is a specific discipline. Our clients don't give us a specification of what needs to be built and our success isn't guaranteed if we hit the deadline.

You need to always put users first, understand them (often better than they understand themselves), and be innovative. But you also need to accept trade-offs, see the business implications and in general be in for the long game, not just a one-off contract.

๐Ÿš€ You want to have impact

Our mission is to affect global e-commerce economy (more here). To get there, every one of us needs to do their best. You should always be asking yourself "is this the most important thing I can work on?" and speak up if the answer is "no".

๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ You are a thoughtful problem solver

For any problem, you always start by understanding the context, the root causes and the implications. You consider different approaches before writing any code.

You can decompose tricky problems into clean steps and you're comfortable asking for help when you get stuck.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ You are not ideological about technology

You understand that technology is just a tool we use for achieving our goals. There are always trade-offs and nothing is perfect. It only works slightly better or worse for our current needs.

It is great to be opinionated, but there's no room for being dogmatic. You should be open to exploring new tech (we love it ourselves!), but it shouldn't keep you up at night that there are some files in the repo that don't follow the latest best practices.

๐Ÿค— You care

You care about others, the company, the goals, the codebase, the product - about everything. You are curious, involved, not afraid to speak your mind or roll up the sleeves when needed.

We all build the company together and nothing is someone else's problem. In fact, knowing that something is wrong and not speaking a word about it makes you an accessory to the crime.

๐Ÿค You are a team player

Building a product is a team sport. You enjoy collaborating cross-functionally to achieve shared goals. And you care about learning, growing, and helping others to do the same.

You communicate well, especially in environment where some people work remotely. And you are happy to give and receive constructive feedback.
